Role
For this project, our team of three designers was asked to complete a 5-day design sprint in order to tackle the challenge presented by Station Bank, a fictional bank looking to provide digital services for their customers.
Our team of 3 designers was given a design brief to complete in 5 days; Station Bank is a traditional retail bank with a full suite of banking services. But since they don’t have a mobile app, their customers are switching to alternative fintech apps to manage personal finances. The ask was to design a native mobile application that would help one group of Station Bank’s customers manage their finances, in this case, young working professionals.
Station Bank’s current digital offering includes a banking website. However, users cannot view their expenses on the go and the website does not show users’ spending habits. We thought about what checking your bank app on the go might look like and pictured the profile of the customer, resulting in our persona Mike.
We mapped out the banking customer's journey on the go. At the pain points, we asked design question including:
Looking at the pain points we can emphasize with some of the common struggles.
Our broad solution to the design brief:
Create a native application that is compelling for young professionals to manage their savings goals, while leveraging mobile-specific technologies.
For the visual identity we explored ways to represent a bank of the future, while keeping in line with the project constraints. For this project I was resposible for the branding assets, so I came up with logo designs and the team voted on one.
The branding theme carried throughout the UI of the mobile app experience:
✓ Proactive avoidance of overspending
✓ Seamless login and navigation
✓ Better spending awareness
✓ Improved savings goals management
