Product launch swag

Role

Swag designer for triad
Items
Magnets, t-shirts, stickers
Project

As the de facto swag designer on Payroll, I was responsible for conceptualizing, designing, and purchasing swag for the team as well as distributing the items all while staying under budget.

To help celebrate the launch of payroll target state, I designed and ordered 100 shirts for engineering , PM , and design

Process

Ideate on the prompt to come up with broad ideas

Decomp target state is not easy prompt to design for. I used words to brainstorm what software "decomp" meant to me. What connections could I make when I think about modernizing a software platform to target state without using literal arrows, targets, computers, and other literal representations of those words?

After feedback that the direction was a little too corporate, I switched it up to a more 60's inspired direction. This was more well-received and one teammate said it reminded her of the era she grew up in.

Explorations included different styles and swag, did user testing around the team to survey what people wanted to wear and the answer was long-sleeved tshirts!

STICKERS

LEARNINGS

Practicing and honing the creative process

It's really heard to come up with creative concepts based on an abstract brief, especially a dry one like 'decomp'.
One should employ tools and frameworks for idea generation, not sitting to wait for inspiration to hit.

  • The creative process once again solidified how important it is to go broad at the beginning

  • Don't print too many colors it will not show up

  • Be sure to stay under budget
